from 00:00 (midnight) until 11:59 AM  Buenos días

from 12:00 (midday) until it's almost dark Buenas tardes

Hi Latin, I thought the same way some years ago, but just think about this:

When starts a new day? A new day starts exactly at 00:00, so a day can't have two nights. :)

I think it depends on whether you have gone to bed or not.

Imagine you are at a pub at 4am and you are about to go home. Do you say buenas noches when you leave or buenos días?

I'd say good night not good morning.

Imagine you have to get up early to start work at 4am. You arrive at work and say buenos días or buenas noches?

I agree Woodward that's common in everyday life, even people use to say "I'll see you tomorrow" when the new day has already come and they don't realize that "tomorrow" is here :) Oh I want to add something, just turn on the radio after 00:00 and the announcer will say "buenos días".

Estimado Woodward, déjame ponerte en un dilema, el caso es el siguiente:

Ahora son las 3:00 de la madrugada, nos encontramos en un chat,  ¿qué me dirás, "buenos días" o buenas noches?, charlamos durante una hora, ya son las 4:00 de la madrugada, nos despedimos, ¿qué me dirás "buenos días" o "buenas noches"? Stick out tongue

Posdata. Ahora que recuerdo algunas veces he oído decir "buenas madrugadas" para referirse a ese tiempo posterior a la medianoche y anterior al amanecer.
